Aalborg wanted to shake Kiel at the top of the group. But after a dramatic ending to the game against PSG – the French away team came out victorious with 32–30.
Aalborg have managed to upset most of the big teams during this year’s Champions League season and Thursday night’s meeting with PSG was no exception.
The Danes went out and stood up well against the French capital team and at halftime it was completely even, 15-15. In the second act, the power struggle continued and with five minutes left the score was 28–28.
But then PSG showed strength and after a goal from Nikola Karabatic and two from top scorer Kamil Syprzak, the visitors led 31-28 and it would turn out to be a match-deciding move. After that, Aalborg certainly polished the numbers, which were finally written at 32-30 in PSG’s favor.
Barcelona storms towards the group victory
Last week Barcelona were down in Hungary and defeated Veszprem and on Thursday their grip on the group victory was consolidated. Then the Catalans won the meeting with Celje by 39-30.
At the same time, Veszprem suffered a serious loss when they fell in the away meeting with Wisla Plock by 37-30 after having to chase from an early stage in the match. A result which means that you are now four points up on Barcelona at the top of the group.
