Christian O’Sullivan is back in the Norway national team setup. The experienced playmaker has been named in Magnus Andersson’s first 18-man squad as head coach ahead of the opening EHF EURO 2028 qualifiers.
After a period away from international duty, Christian O’Sullivan is ready to pull on the Norway shirt again. The 35-year-old is one of the headline names in Magnus Andersson’s first squad since taking charge of the national team. O’Sullivan left SC Magdeburg after nine seasons this summer and joined TBV Lemgo Lippe, where he has taken on a new role and enjoyed more playing time. His performances have convinced Andersson to bring the experienced playmaker back into the national team picture.
“After nine seasons in Magdeburg, Christian has changed environments and taken on a role where he gets more playing time. He has handled that convincingly, and we are confident that he will contribute with his qualities and experience,” Andersson told the Norwegian Handball Federation.
Norway will gather in Bergen in early November before opening their EHF EURO 2028 qualifying campaign against Georgia on 5 November. Three days later, they will travel to face Türkiye.
Several players are unavailable due to injuries, including Sander Sagosen, Magnus Fredriksen and William Aar. Andersson has also stressed that this squad is not necessarily the one that will represent Norway at the World Championship in Germany in January.
