The Danish Men’s League playoffs have reached the ultimate business end of the season. On Wednesday night, the semifinal series kicked off with two completely different storylines: a heart-stopping overtime thriller in Skanderborg and an absolute masterclass of a blowout in Aalborg.
Here is the full breakdown of the opening semifinal clashes.
Skanderborg AGF – GOG 38–35 after overtime (32–32, 15–19)
The night’s biggest thriller took place at Skanderborg, where the hosts welcomed powerhouse GOG. It was the visitors who dictated the tempo early on. After a tightly contested opening, GOG managed to break away, punishing Skanderborg’s technical errors with clinical finishing. GOG built a commanding five-goal lead (12–17) before heading into the locker room up 15–19.
But Skanderborg AGF refused to back down.
The hosts emerged for the second half looking like a completely different squad. Chip by chip, they ate away at GOG’s lead, leveling the game at 20–20. Skanderborg even managed to edge ahead by two (30–28) late in the game.
GOG showed their championship pedigree by fighting back, and a chaotic final minute saw the teams locked at 32–32 at the final buzzer.
Skanderborg stole the show in over time
In the ten minutes of overtime, the hosts proved to have the cooler heads. Tied at 34–34, Skanderborg found another gear, blasting three unanswered goals to make it 37–34 and effectively sealing the victory. Skanderborg AGF takes a crucial 1-0 lead in the series after a heroic comeback.

Aalborg Håndbold – Mors-Thy Håndbold 40–21 (22–11)
While Skanderborg offered pure drama, the match in Gigantium was a completely different story. Aalborg entered the court as heavy favorites against Mors-Thy, and they left absolutely no room for doubt.
Mors-Thy managed to keep pace until 4–4, but from that point on, Aalborg shifted into a gear the visitors simply couldn’t match. The hosts bulldozed forward in attack while completely shutting down their defensive zone. Leading 13–9 late in the first half, Aalborg went on a brutal 9–2 run to close the period, leaving the scoreboard at a staggering 22–11 at halftime.
A cruising victory for Aalborg
The second half was nothing more than a victory lap for the title favorites. Aalborg continued to punish Mors-Thy, steadily increasing their lead. Mors-Thy never found an answer to Aalborg’s star-studded roster, and the deficit ballooned to as much as 20 goals (39–19).
The final score landed at a dominant 40–21. Aalborg has taken a monumental step toward the finals, sending a loud and clear warning shot to the rest of the league.
