Strong support for IHF leadership beyond the president

At the 40th IHF Congress in Cairo, delegates gave overwhelming backing not only to Hassan Moustafa’s re-election as president but also to a wide range of key leaders across the federation’s governance and commissions. Most positions saw clear majorities, reflecting widespread confidence in the newly elected leadership team.

While Hassan Moustafa secured another term as IHF President, the 40th IHF Congress also confirmed strong support for the broader leadership that will steer the sport for the next four years.

Philippe Bana (FRA) was elected 1st Vice-President with 106 votes, decisively ahead of his opponent, and key strategic roles were filled by experienced figures. Anna Rapp (SWE) continues as Treasurer, and Narcisa Lecușanu (ROU) and Francisco V. Blázquez García (ESP) were elected to the Executive Committee.

Some changes were made

Across technical and organisational bodies, candidates such as Pascal Jenny (SUI), Tomislav Grahovac (CRO) and Per Morten Sødal (NOR) won strong majorities to lead important commissions.

Judicial and ethics bodies also saw wide agreement on leadership, with Zoran Radojicic (MNE) as Arbitration Tribunal chair and Hussein Moustafa Fathy (EGY) heading the Ethics Commission.

The scale of support for these roles highlights the Congress’s confidence in a capable leadership team beyond the presidency.
