The IHF Men’s Super Globe, the premier global handball club competition, will be rebranded as the IHF Men’s Club World Championship starting in 2024. The 17th edition will be held in Egypt from September 27 to October 3, with matches taking place in the New Administrative Capital Hall.
Nine teams have secured spots for this edition, including reigning champions SC Magdeburg, hosts Al-Ahly, and EHF Champions League winners FC Barcelona.
Egypt’s Zamalek qualified by finishing second in the 2024 African Handball Super Cup, while Saudi Arabia’s Khaleej represents Asia after winning the 2024 Asian Club League Championship. Brazil’s Handebol Taubaté, the California Eagles, and Sydney Uni also secured their places through regional qualifiers. The final spot, awarded as a wild card, goes to Hungary’s Veszprém HC.
The draw for the tournament will take place on Wednesday in New Alamein City, Egypt, at 19:00 EEST (18:00 CEST). The nine teams will be divided into three groups of three for the preliminary round.
Teams have already been seeded into three pots, with no teams from the same continent allowed in the same group. Pot 3 teams will be drawn first, followed by Pot 1. Hosts Al-Ahly will choose their group, with the remaining Pot 2 teams drawn next.
The winner of each group will advance to the semi-finals, joined by the best second-placed team. The remaining five teams will compete in Placement Matches.
