Heidi Løke has not played for the Norwegian national team since 2020. Now she requires surgery for a thumb injury – something that threatens her plans for the upcoming Olympics.
– I’m out for at least three to four months, so the Olympics unfortunately look bleak, Løke says to TV2.no.
Heidi Løke is one of the most prominent pivots of all time. But the Larvik player has reached the age of 41 and has not played for the national team since the Euros back in 2020.
Ahead of the world cup in December she was deselected, but Løke has been aiming for a spot in the squad during the Olympics this summer.
– The form recovered well over the autumn and I was part of the national team as a reserve in the World Cup. And I have said that my goal is to take part in the Olympics this summer, she says to TV2.no.
But the plans has met an obstacle recently. In the game against Storhamar on December 30th Løke dislocated her thumb, which will now need surgery
– I will have an operation on 10 January and will be out for quite a long time, she says and elaborates. The ligament on the inside of the thumb has torn – that is the worst injury. I’m out for at least three to four months, so the Olympics unfortunately look bleak.
The chances of participation in the Olympics look slim, but Løke will work hard to get back in time.
– There’s a lot else I can do, so I’ll train and be in very, very good shape anyway, so we’ll see how it goes.
