Magnus Andersson officially appointed Norway head coach

Norway have officially appointed Magnus Andersson as the new head coach of the men’s national team, confirming the reports that emerged earlier this week.

The 60-year-old Swede has signed a contract running until the summer of 2030 and will take charge after Jonas Wille.

Andersson had been heavily linked with the position in recent weeks after Norwegian media reported that he was the leading candidate among a shortlist that also included Stefan Madsen, Kristian Kjelling and Børge Lund. The Norwegian Handball Federation has now made the appointment official.

“I am incredibly proud and humbled by the opportunity. Norway have some of the world’s best handball players and enormous potential. I’m looking forward to getting started and helping the team take the next step,” Andersson said in a statement released by the federation.

Henrik Kronborg will join Andersson’s coaching staff as assistant coach. The Dane currently works with Aalborg Håndbold and has also been part of Denmark’s national team setup.

The federation’s leadership highlighted Andersson’s international experience and track record of developing teams as key reasons behind the appointment.
