Four candidates remain in race for Norway head coach role

Norway are closing in on the appointment of a new men’s national team coach following the decision to part ways with current head coach Jonas Wille after the season.

According to Norwegian media reports from TV 2, four names remain in contention for the position: Stefan Madsen, Magnus Andersson, Kristian Kjelling and Børge Lund.

The Norwegian Handball Federation announced earlier this year that Wille’s contract will not be extended beyond July 2026 following a series of disappointing results at major tournaments.

Among the candidates, Stefan Madsen is currently coaching Paris Saint-Germain Handball and previously guided Aalborg Håndbold to multiple Champions League appearances. Magnus Andersson is currently in charge of FC Porto and has extensive international experience both as player and coach.

Kristian Kjelling recently impressed with Drammen HK, while former Norway international Børge Lund has previously coached Elverum Håndball and also worked within the Norwegian national team setup.

The Norwegian federation has not yet confirmed when a final decision regarding the new national team coach will be announced.
