Norway will start without some prominent players for the Euro 2026. Among them, the national team captain Christian O´Sullivan whose defense role will be transferred to Vetle Rønningen.
– Of course he is disappointed and he thinks he is good enough. He is good too. but right now we have considered Rønningen as better, the coach Jonas Wille says to VG.
During a press conference covered by VG, Jonas Wille concludes that the lack of minutes with his club team, Magdeburg meant that O´Sullivan didn’t make the selection.
Other missing players, already known, are Magnus Abelvik Rød and Kristian Bjørnsen. On the pivot position, Martin Hovde joins the squad for the championship on home ground – without a single cap on the previous cv.
– Perhaps for many the big surprise in the squad is Martin Hovde. We have known about him for several years, but it has taken a few years for him to crack the code, Wille says to VG.
