Starligue returned with a real battle after a near two-months hiatus. HBC Nantes and Montpellier HB were separated by two goals and Nantes ruled versus the table number three with a strong defensive effort towards the end.
Montpellier had an early lead and pushed Nantes to making mistakes. But Nantes could fully trust the stars in the back court line, Julien Bos with seven goals was superb towards the end when the away team reigned.
Aymeric Minne compensated for some less favourable shots with a high production in the assist factory and Nicolas Tournat fought well as a pivot.
Ahmed Hesham scored eight times for Montpellier but the home players lost a bit of pace during the final quarter. Bos and Tournat stepped up for Nantes and the goal to 24–28 with five minutes to go decided the game.
Montpellier will have a hard time trying to achieve a CL spot for next season. Nantes is currently two points ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, with the capital team having one match in hand.
Montpellier HB–HBC Nantes 27–29 (15–14)
