Barthold returns to Denmark: Mors-Thy sign experienced Norwegian winger

Mors-Thy Handball have secured a major signing for the future, as Sebastian Barthold joins from SC Magdeburg on a deal running from 2026 to 2028.

Sebastian Barthold is set to make a return to Danish handball, with Mors-Thy Håndbold confirming the signing of the experienced left wing from SC Magdeburg.

The 34-year-old Norwegian joins the club on a contract running from the summer of 2026 until 2028. Barthold only arrived in Magdeburg ahead of the 2025/26 season but will now continue his career in Denmark.

Barthold brings extensive experience at the highest level, having spent several successful years at Aalborg Håndboldbefore his short stint in Germany.

Speaking about the move, Barthold emphasized his ambitions to contribute to Mors-Thy’s development and help the team take the next step. He also highlighted the importance of balancing his professional career with family life as a key factor behind the decision.
