With HB Ludwigsburg out of the game, the Super cup duel was decided by one goal in favor of Thüringer HC, 31–30 over HSG Blomberg-Lippe. Rikke Hoffbeck Petersen and Johanna Reichert handled the attacks in the winning team with nine goals each.
While Ludwigsburg was excluded because of the insolvency process, THC received a late ticket to the Saturday game and performed well to the fourth Super cup victory in the club history.
Though all 60 minutes was needed to separate the two teams, THC was clearly better in the beginning of the second half and the final push meant they could hold on to a two-three goal lead.
From the very start, Blomberg-Lippe asserted authority leading 11–3 after 17 minutes.
– We actually can’t believe we managed to turn the game around. We had such a poor start, couldn’t get a grip on defense, missed shots up front, didn’t get into the gaps well, and then I think we were down 11-3. And yes, I’m incredibly proud of the morale my team showed and the way they fought, said THC´s Josefine Hanfland according to Handball-world.
Around 20 effective minutes. Reichert equalised with a penalty shot. And the final part of the game belonged to Thüringer HC albeit with a small margin. Recihert had huge success with the back court shots and Hoffbeck Petersen had good speed to open a gap from the left wing.
Sharon Nooitmeer got the last minute going by achieving 28–31 on the board, ending all hope for Blomberg-Lippe.
Bundesliga starts next weekend, with a twelve team layout including Ludwigsburg.
