Gidsel leads Bundesliga scoring charts after five rounds

Mathias Gidsel is leading the Bundesliga scoring charts after five rounds, but the Füchse Berlin star has little room for error with Kai Häfner and Nicolaj Jørgensen breathing down his neck.

Five rounds of the new Bundesliga season have been played, and Mathias Gidsel sits at the top of the scoring charts. The Füchse Berlin superstar has scored 43 goals so far, putting him two goals ahead of TVB Stuttgart veteran Kai Häfner, who has found the net 41 times.

Just one goal further back is Handball Club Hamburg’s Nicolaj Jørgensen, who has scored 40 goals in the opening five rounds. The race is particularly tight further down the list. ThSV Eisenach’s Felix Aellen and VfL Gummersbach’s Nikola Roganovic have both scored 38 goals, while SC Magdeburg’s Felix Claar follows on 37.

Gummersbach have two players among the top seven, with Miro Schluroff sitting seventh on 36 goals. Bergischer HC’s Fynn Hangstein has also scored 36.

With only five rounds played, the margins remain extremely small. Gidsel leads the way, but just eight goals separate the league’s top ten scorers.
