Wisla Plock gave up their home advantage completely as Kielce dominated the first final game in Poland. The reigning champion might be relieved of the title already next weekend.
After several tight duels in previous championship finals Kielce made a huge mark with a decisive away win. After the first half, almost no hope was left for Plock with an eight goal deficit, 11–19 after Kielce´s successful attacks and strong defense.
The home team managed no return and Artsem Karalok, Piotr Jarosiewicz and Alex Dujshebaev continued to be in charge of the goal production.
Kielce´s coach Krzysztof Lijewski had a cautious view of the victory.
– We’ve taken the first step, but ultimately none.
– As long as Orlen Wisła Płock is the Polish champion, they are the favorite. I’m not overly optimistic, as there’s still one step left. I’m proud of my players’ performance because they endured a lot of tough competition, but it was within the bounds of sportsmanship, he told the club webpage afterwards.
