Brazil’s Men’s Juniors clinch gold at 2025 Pan-American Games

One week after the women’s team triumphed, Brazil’s men’s junior team secured gold at the 2025 Junior Pan-American Games, held from 17–22 August in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Eight teams competed, divided into two groups. Argentina and Brazil topped their groups with three wins each. In Group A, Argentina defeated Cuba, Paraguay, and Uruguay, while host Paraguay edged into the semi-finals on a narrow goal difference. In Group B, Brazil dominated Mexico, Chile, and the USA, with the United States taking second place.

The semi-finals were decisive. Argentina overpowered the USA 28–13, while Brazil crushed Paraguay 45–20.

The final saw a thrilling clash between Brazil and Argentina. Argentina led 14–11 at halftime, but Brazil staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, spearheaded by Mikael Candio Lopes’ nine goals and Bertoldo’s five, winning 29–27. The USA claimed bronze with a 39–29 win over Paraguay.
