WC: Another power move from Norway

Norway continued their very successful campaign, securing first spot in the Main round with ease. Denmark completed a hard fought effort to narrowly beat Hungary, until a possible final they also will avoid the nordic derby.

Denmark had some ups and downs, but Helle Thomsen managed to reshuffle the cards with two important substitutions. Amalie Milling entered in the second half with Denmark two goals up and immidiately set the scene for a comeback.

Julie Scaglione was reintroduced in action and found more space for breakthroughs and good combinations with Helena Elver that increased the goal flow.

Hungary had two impressive players in Petra Simon (eight goals) and Zsófi Szemerey between the posts. But a backlash in the attacks towards the end stopped the trailing team from an equaliser, Denmark won 28–27.

In the quarterfinal, Hungary wait for the winner between France and Netherlands and Denmark meet the losing team in the Monday matchup.

The other two quarterfinals have been established, after a confident 33–14 triumph for Norway. There was no stopping Vilde Ingstad in the pivot position, Emilie Hovden from the wing or Nora Mørk with some creative, solid assists. All powered by Katrine Lunde with another terrific goalkeeper game Norway ran away from Brazil.

On Tuesday night in Dortmund, Norway and Montenegro duel (20:30) to reach the medal weekend, with Germany against Brazil (17:15) as the first playoff match.
