WC: Norway storms towards main round after new thrashing

43–11 in the premiere. During Friday, Norway answered for the next WC crush – this when Austria was blown off the course with a clear 45-28.

In the opener against Greenland, it looked shaky for about ten minutes – then Norway ran away and was finally able to win 43-11. In the meeting with Austria, there was never any talk about it and the Norwegian team still looks almost unbeatable.

Austria came into Friday night’s match with the wind in their sails after their win against South Korea in their World Cup opener. But against Norway, the Alpine country was of course hugely defeated and the Norwegians made the process short.

Already at halftime the score was 21-12 for the Norwegians and the final score 45-28 of course speaks for itself.

The result means that, in practice, Norway is already ready for the upcoming main round. In the last group game, they face South Korea, who defeated Greenland on Friday evening.

In the premiere, it was Camilla Herrem who stood out for Norway. But against Austria, superstar Henny Reistad shouldered a heavier responsibility and the 24-year-old managed to score ten goals for her country.

Friday evening also offered a WC premiere for Jesper Jensen and his Denmark. The Danes had big problems with the Serbian team, but were finally able to clear the storm and win 25-21, which means a dream start to the championship in terms of points.
