Denmark secures place for Paris 2024 – despite heartbreaking loss

Denmark lost after Henny Reistad’s brilliance in the semi-finals. But you can be happy that the Olympic ticket was secured after France’s defeat against Sweden later on Friday evening.

Henny Reistad decided Friday’s first semifinal by scoring her 15th goal in the last second of overtime. Thus, the Danish golden dream was crushed and after the match the home players were devastated. But later in the evening they got some plasters on the wounds.

During the last game of the evening France went out and beat Sweden 37-28. A result which means that Denmark will now become the third nation to secure its ticket to the Olympics in Paris 2024.

The reason why Denmark is already ready for Olympic games is that the other nations that are ready are the finalists Norway and France. Thus, the ticket is secured by virtue of the fact that Denmark finished second at last year’s European Championships.
