Morten Soubak in charge of Japan

Brazil, Angola and now Japan. Morten Soubak takes on another assignment with a women’s senior national team, this time the reigning Asian champion.

IHF reports on the news from the Japan Handball Association. Soubak brings plenty of experience from an international atmosphere as Japan prepares for the upcoming World Championship.

– My goal with this team is initially to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and reach the quarterfinals during this phase. In the long term, we will continue to work on strengthening our team, always with the goal of becoming one of the best teams in the world in mind, said the coach according to IHF.

Soubak brought Brazil the joy of winning the World Championship in 2013.

Japan starts for another platform, having qualified for all WC since 1995 with 17th place in the last edition. In December the first task for Soubak will be to defeat either Denmark, Romania or Croatia to reach the Main round.

– I’m very proud to lead the Japanese women’s national team, I want to make this team stronger and better from now on, said Soubak as quoted by IHF.
