One of the est pivots in handball history, Heidi Løke soon starts on a new coaching assignment. The national team of Poland brings the icon to support Arne Senstad as an assistant coach.
Poland has opted for Norwegian leadership and delves further into it with Løke in the leader team.
– I am very happy that I got this opportunity. I had the opportunity to work with the national team for a week last year and it was amazing to be a part of this team. I am really looking forward to working with the girls and the entire coaching staff, she says to the federation website.
Senstad has been in charge of Poland since 2019 and has secured qualification to many major tournaments. The women’s team finished ninth in last year’s European Championship and currently looks forward to hosting Euro 2026.
– We are pleased that Heidi Løke is joining the Polish national team coaching staff. Acquiring such an outstanding figure as Heidi is a huge reinforcement. Her experience, winning mentality and vast knowledge will be invaluable for our team, says the President of the Polish Handball Association, Sławomir Szmal to the federation website.
Further statements in Norwegian media reveal that Løke has no intention to step off court and end her playing career. The 42-year-old is in recovery mode after a knee operation in November,
