Great Britain replaces Cameroon in the Olympic qualification

The national team of Cameroon encountered an unfortunate setback in their journey to participate in the Women’s Olympic Qualification. Due to visa issues, Cameroon will not be able to compete and will be replaced by Great Britain.

Originally, Sweden, Hungary, Japan, and Cameroon were supposed to compete for two Olympic spots. However, as the Cameroonian players did not obtain visas to Hungary, the question was passed on to Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and other countries that placed behind Cameroon in the African qualifiers. But none of them were able to agree to participate at such short notice.

According to the regulations, the International Handball Federation’s executive committee was then given the opportunity to allocate a wild card. Great Britain was the country offered the opportunity and has accepted participation. This means that Great Britain will replace Cameroon. No changes will be made to the schedule except that Great Britain will take Cameroon’s place.
