List: The best left backs at the 2024 European Championship

The 2024 European Championship is getting closer, and in a series of articles Ola Selby, reporter at GoHandball, picks his 5 best players at each position. Here is perhaps the strongest position: the left backs.

Here are the players:

Jamina Roberts, Sweden

Neither the thin squad, the many injuries nor the threat of bankruptcy have been able to interfere with Jamina Roberts’ performances during the season. The left back has, without a doubt, been the best and most important player for Vipers, and has delivered both goals and assists in high numbers.

Henny Reistad, Norway

The world’s best handball player are naturally on this list. Reistad is a bit ahead of all other players, it’s that simple.

Kristina Jørgensen, Denmark

Moved to Györi for this year’s season and that move felt like a given because that is where the best players usually end up at some point during their career. Jørgensen is a hybrid between centre back and left back and is really equally good in both positions.

Elizabeth Omoregie, Slovenia

The outsider on this list, but also a player who has done really well for both the national team and club team for several years now. Has taken over the role from Ana Gros as Slovenia’s best player. Also ranks second in the Champions League’s scoring league behind, you guessed it, Reistad.

Lois Abbingh, Netherlands

Not quite as good now as she was during her peak, WC 2019, but still a player who in her best moments is a world class player. Needs to be great if the Netherlands are to bring home a medal.
