Tjasa Stanko joins Györ

The Slovenian back court player, Tjasa Stanko becomes the final addition to the squad in Györi ETO KC for 2025/26. The 27-year-old is ready to compete at the highest European level.

Stanko joins the other playmaker options already in the green jersey, Helena Elver, Kristina Jörgensen and Estelle Nze Minko for next season.

– I was very happy to sign the contract, as the best club in women’s handball approached me. I am aware of the situation, what the goals of the club are, and I know that it is never easy to play in Györ, because the expectations are constantly high, she says to the club webpage.

Stanko arrives after a four year-stint in Krim Ljubljana. Her other experiences playing abroad occurred in Podravka Koprivnvica, Croatia and Metz HB in the start of the decade. Ten years in the national team also helps the centre back to perform in an elite environment.

– Tjasa is a player who can be used in several positions, and we still needed her for the future. We know her well, we know what she is capable of, and the fact that she has been playing in the Champions League for many years and has enough experience to help us was also important. With her arrival, next year’s squad is complete, says Györ ceo Peter Endrödi to the club website.
