Team Esbjerg strengthens its goalkeeper position. The German national team player Katharina Filter has signed a two-year contract with the danish top club.
– Katharina Filter is the first-choice goalkeeper for the German national team and comes from a top European club, says Sweden’s national team coach and Team Esbjerg’s head coach, Tomas Axnér.
One of the world’s best goalkeepers, Anna Kristensen, is getting a new competitor. This time, it’s Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper and Brest Bretagne Handball player Katharina Filter.
– Anna is really good, but we can both benefit from working together. I’m also looking forward to playing in the Danish league again, where you can’t expect to win every match. I hope to contribute by bringing calm to the team, and I just want to continue my development as a goalkeeper, says the 25-year-old in a press release.
Filter played in Denmark already during the 2022-2023 season with København Håndbold and has been speaking fluent Danish since that time. Since her debut with the German national team in 2021, the goalkeeper has made 59 international appearances for Germany. She also has a beach handball World Championship gold medal from 2022.
– Trying something new and getting to know a new team and new surroundings is always a step forward for me, especially when it’s Team Esbjerg, which has a good team and a good project, says Katharina Filter in a press release.
