She talked about it before the start of the season and now Stine Bredal Oftedal has confirmed that she will leave Györ after this season. In an interview at Györs website the Norwegian playmaker reveals that she might retire after the 2024 Olympics.
Stine Bredal Oftedal, one of the best players in history, arrived at the Hungarian powerhouse back in 2017 and has since been one of their best and most important players. But the playmaker’s career in Hungary is over in about 6 months, which the 32-year-old confirms to Györs website.
– I will not sign anywhere else. I am going to take a break, most likely retire, even though I am leaving the door open, Oftedal states in the interview.
That means that the 2024 Olympics will likely be the last we see of one of the most decorated players of all time. Oftedal has won 3 WC gold medals, 5 EC gold medals, and everything there is to win at club level as well as individual level. But one thing remains and that is the Olympic gold medal.
