Official: Anna Vyakhireva joins Brest Bretagne

Anna Vyakhireva is leaving Vipers Kristiansand. The right back has signed a two-year contract with the French powerhouse Brest Bretagne. The 29-year-old was named Europe’s best right back last season.

– I realize that these are not normal circumstances and that everything happened very suddenly, but I am really looking forward to coming to Brest and starting the preseason, says the Russian world star on the club’s website.

Vyakhireva played the past season for Vipers Kristiansand and with her 113 goals in the Champions League, she won the scoring title. Her achievements also include an Olympic gold medal from 2016 and an Olympic silver medal from 2021.

– Anna is an extraordinary player who will bring us a lot, first in terms of experience and then with her finesse, speed, vision, and versatility, which will provide us with new tactical options. So it is with great joy that the team will welcome Anna, a true handball genius, says the club’s coach, Raphaëlle Tervel.
