Team Esbjerg will be without defensive specialist Line Haugsted for the remainder of the season, with the Denmark international expecting her first child in April.
The Danish club announced the news in a press release, confirming that the 31-year-old will also miss the upcoming European Championship.
Haugsted has not featured for Esbjerg since suffering a finger injury at the beginning of the season. The club now expects her to return when the 2027/28 campaign begins next autumn.
“I’m looking forward to becoming a mother and to an entirely new and exciting chapter in my life. I’ll be on the sidelines for a while, but I’ll remain around the team and support and contribute in whatever way I can off the court,” Haugsted said in Team Esbjerg’s press release.
Her absence is a blow to both Esbjerg and Denmark, given her experience and defensive qualities. However, the club will hope to have the 31-year-old back in time for the start of next season.
