What drama the second Champions League semifinal delivered. It took extra time to separate Metz and Odense, but in the end, Odense emerged victorious with a 31–29 win. That sets up a final between Györi and Odense.
In Saturday’s first semifinal, Györi edged out Team Esbjerg in a tight match, winning 29–28. The second semifinal was even more thrilling, requiring extra time to determine a winner.
Both Metz and Odense have impressed throughout the season, and for Odense, the addition of Katrine Lunde after the Vipers’ bankruptcy was a significant boost – despite Althea Reinhardt also being a world-class goalkeeper.
In this match, it was Lunde – just as she has done so many times before in big games – who proved decisive. After a 27–27 draw in regular time, extra time followed. There, the legendary keeper stepped up once again and helped guide Odense to their first-ever Champions League final. Lunde finished with eight saves and a 40% save percentage.
Sunday’s schedule:
15:00 – Team Esbjerg vs. Metz (Bronze match)
18:00 – Györ vs. Odense (Final)
