Barcelona crowned Iberica Supercopa champions

It was a dramatic final between Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon in the Iberica Supercopa. The game went all the way to penalties, where Barcelona ultimately emerged victorious.

Barcelona remain the only club to have lifted the Iberica Supercopa trophy since the tournament’s start in 2022. The competition features the cup and league winners from Portugal and Spain, or the cup finalists, in the event of a team winning both domestic trophies.

This year’s tournament participants were Barcelona and Ademar from Spain, and Porto and Sporting from Portugal. In the semifinals, Sporting comfortably defeated underdogs Ademar 42–27. Porto put up a strong fight against tournament favorites Barcelona but ultimately fell three goals short, 28–25.

That set up a final between Barcelona and Sporting. Having won the tournament in each of the previous three years, Barcelona were clear favorites heading into the match. However, it was Sporting who started the better and took an early lead. Barcelona fought back but still found themselves trailing 15–13 at halftime.

In the second half, Barcelona managed to close the gap, and from there it was a back-and-forth affair. Neither team was able to pull away, and after 60 minutes the score was tied at 31–31, sending the match to a penalties.

Barcelona kept their composure during the shootout, and thanks to key saves from Hallgrimsson and Nielsen, they secured their fourth consecutive Iberica Supercopa title.

In the third-place match, Porto claimed a comfortable 28–23 victory over Ademar.
