Rumor: Xavi Pascual set to join Egypt

Juan Carlos Pastor is reportedly set to leave his role as head coach of the Egyptian national team. The 57-year-old Spaniard Xavi Pascual is expected to take over, according to RTHandball.

After twelve successful years with Barcelona—winning eleven league titles and three Champions League trophies—Xavi Pascual left Spain for Romania. He spent three years at Dinamo Bucharest before moving on to Telekom Veszprém.

According to transfer account RTHandball, the coaching legend is now on his way to the Egyptian national team. Whether Pascual will leave Veszprém for the position remains to be seen.

The national team is currently coached by Juan Carlos Pastor, and during the 2025 World Championship, Egypt was narrowly defeated by France in the quarterfinals.
