Goran Perkovac will be in charge of the national team of Iraq with the Asian championship next year in mind. The Croatian trainer achieved a warm welcome when he accepted the job via a contract signing in Baghdad.
Though achieving several top ten-records in the Asian Championship, the men’s selection of Iraq has yet to qualify for a World Cup.
Perkovac is yet to try on the aspiring players, reports the Iraqi Handball Federation. The 62-year-olds previous assignments includes Switzerland, Greece and the one-year-stint with his native Croatia leading to an abrupt end on eleventh place, an overall disappointing outcome in Euro 2024.
As a back court player, Perkoovac had a most distinguished career with olympic medals both for Yugoslavia and Croatia and the ability to score heaps of goals for several Swiss clubs.
