There haven’t been any surprises so far in the Club World Cup. Veszprém, Barcelona, and Magdeburg have all dominated their groups and will now face off for the title.
Just like in the first round of group matches, the top European teams were in control during Sunday’s games in the Club World Cup. Magdeburg beat Al Sharjah 36–26, Barcelona put on a show by defeating El Zamalek 47–25, and Veszprém played the closest match, winning 31–22 against Al Ahly.
The results mean that all three sides advanced to the next round, each finishing first in their group. They will be joined by Al Ahly, who qualified as the best-ranked runner-up.
In the semi-finals, Al Ahly will go in as massive underdogs when they take on Barcelona. The other matchup will be a fascinating duel between Veszprém and Magdeburg.
