Heidi Løke´s next handball venture has been uncertain since she chose to leave Larvik. On Monday, TV2 Norway revealed the 42-year-old in a new trainer capacity in Runar Elite.
The discussions between Løke and Larvik failed to lead to a new contract. But the icon has her eyes on a challenging prospect.
– Runar will invest on the woman side and I will be coach. I´ve signed for three years, the star player says to TV2.
The project means putting equal focus on the men’s and women’s team in the club. While Runar is a play-off-capable side among the men, the women’s team recently advanced from third to second division.
– The club is now focusing on equality and the dream is to one day have an elite team for women in Sandefjord, Løke continues.
But what about the player career, TV2 wants to know.
– I haven’t decided on that yet, says Løke.
– You shouldn’t ignore the fact that I play, but I’m employed as a coach. I’m going to train and be in shape anyway. Who says I’m done? I’m only done in Larvik. But it will be a different role anyway, and then we’ll see.
