The 2025 Men’s World Championship is getting closer and in a series of articles Ola Selby, reporter at GoHandball, picks his 5 best players at each position. Next up: The right wings.
Here are the players:
Aleix Gomez, Spain
A phenomenon on the right wing who continues to deliver goals, season after season both for Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Even in matches where you think Gomez has not been seen much, it is not uncommon for him to score at least seven goals. It’s still unclear whether Gomez will be able to play during the World Championship, but if he plays everyone knows the quality in him.
Yanis Lenne, France
Competing with Sebastian Karlsson in Montpellier and that says a lot about how well the French big club is doing at right wing. Karlsson is really great and very close to a place on this list, but so far Lenne is a bit sharper. Has had some bad luck with injuries, but if he can stay injury-free he will be a great asset for France during the World Championship.
Mario Sostaric, Croatia
Leads the entire Champions League scoring league and does it after 72 goals in ten games. Also with a high shooting percentage (78). Has taken big steps in his game in recent years and developed from being an okay player to becoming a top player. Has a great variety in his finishes and that is a lot of where the secret to fine goal-scoring lies. And a penalty taker of the highest class.
Blaz Janc, Slovenia
One of the best players in the world, no question about it. So fast, so technically skilled and so smart. Extremely respected by all players and it’s easy to understand why. Slovenia’s best and most important player, “despite” playing on the wing.
Arkadiusz Moryto, Polen
The Kielce player has a knack for scoring goals and the fact is that his completion percentage in the Champions League this season is impressively high. 80 percent of his shots go on target and that’s no joke.
