List: The best right backs at the 2025 Men’s World Championship

The 2025 Men’s World Championship is getting closer and in a series of articles Ola Selby, reporter at GoHandball, picks his 5 best players at each position. Next up: the right backs.

Here are the players:

Mathias Gidsel, Denmark

The best handball player in the world.

Dika Mem, France

The world’s second-best handball player. But Mem has been injured all the way and it is still unclear how Mem is really doing – or especially how his right shoulder is doing. When he plays, he will probably be desperate for revenge after the failure at the Olympics.

Alex Dujshebaev, Spain

The third right back to be on these types of lists for several years now. Not as good or dominant as he was a few years ago, but still plays handball with enormous courage. Must be good if Spain is to go far.

Renärs Uscins, Germany

Is it too early to place Uscins on this list? After all, he has “only” had two really good championships. But for me, there is no doubt about it – Uscins is already one of the best in the world in his position. He has shown that in the national team and he has shown that not least in the autumn in Hannover-Burgdorf, where he is the big reason why Hannover has a chance at the league title in the Bundesliga.

Ivan Martinovic, Croatia

It’s impossible to ignore the level at which Martinovic has played during the Bundesliga season. Completely dominant for Rhein-Neckar Löwen and a player that a lot of Croatia’s hope lies on.
