The silver team from the Olympics is almost reunited for the World Cup preparation. Alfred Gislason includes 15 of the players from the Paris squad in the most recent German selection.
Only Kai Häfner who announced his absence from the national team and Tim Hornke on the injury list is left out compared to the player list who made the podium journey possible in August.
The captain Johannes Golla stabilizes the squad and the goalkeepers are equally established with Andreas Wolff and David Späth in action.
– We can play a very good tournament. But we also know what kind of performance we have to deliver. My goal is to win the first game. That’s better than the other way around: wanting to win the final and forgetting the way there, says Gislason to the federation website.
Germany meets Poland, Switzerland and Czechia during the group stage in Herning.
