Köster on beating Sweden: “We wanted a lined up defense”

He brings his heart to the court, never gives up and the shots fly through the air like rockets. Julian Köster had his big international breakthrough in the EHF EURO last winter. Tonight they won against Sweden and Köster was happily humble after the match.

– It was a tough match today, both teams played well in defence. Especially both goalkeepers at the beginning of the match, Köster said, referring of course to Palicka and Wolff, who even shook hands in the break after the performance in the first half.

It was hard work until the final whistle that applied to Germany, Köster and the players had that in mind.

– We knew that Sweden is a really good team, it doesn’t matter if the difference is one, two, three goals. It doesn’t matter to them, it’s 60 minutes that counts.

– So today we are happy that we won.

And the victory plan before the match? It read as follows:

– We talked a lot about our defensive game and also about Sweden’s speed and counterattacks. So it was important for us to come back and play 6-on-6.
