Zoran Roganovic is back in charge of the Montenegro men’s national team. The Montenegrin Handball Federation has announced that Roganovic has been appointed as head coach, returning to the position he held between 2018 and 2023.
The 48-year-old ended his first spell after the 2023 World Championship, having guided Montenegro to three major tournaments: EHF EURO 2020, EHF EURO 2022 and the 2023 World Championship.
His most successful campaign came at the 2022 EHF EURO, where Montenegro finished 11th – the best-ever result for the country’s men’s national team at a major championship.
Montenegro have been without a head coach since July, when Didier Dinart’s contract expired. The federation has now opted for a familiar face to lead the team into the next qualification cycle.
Roganovic’s second spell will begin on November 5, when Montenegro travel to Hungary for their opening match in the EHF EURO 2028 qualifiers. Faroe Islands and Kosovo are the other teams in Group 4.
Alongside his national team duties, Roganovic will continue as head coach of Swedish club HK Malmö. He took charge of the club ahead of the 2025/26 season and led them to the Swedish Championship final.
