While some of the more prestigious national teams battled for a spot in the Olympics, Italy, along with Estonia, Lithuania, and Slovakia, secured their places in the last round of qualifications for the 2025 IHF World Championship. This is where teams like Spain and Portugal will join in. Here is the draw.
The first round of phase two of the European Qualifications for the 2025 IHF World Championship has concluded, with Italy and Estonia advancing without any trouble. Slovakia completed a late comeback against Israel, while Lithuania secured their spot in the next round after a penalty shootout win against Finland
The Men’s World Championship 2025 is only ten months away, and the teams needing to qualify to compete in Denmark, Norway, or Croatia are now just one playoff game away from the main stage. This is also the phase where most of the big teams join the competition, with the likes of Spain, Hungary, and Portugal participating.
While many games features a heavy favorite, there are some particularly interesting matchups ahead. For example, the Faroe Islands, who made huge headlines during the Euros earlier this year, will face North Macedonia, and Serbia, who were a disappointment in the Euros, will take on Spain.
