Brazil undefeated in SCA showdown

Brazil defended their title and won all five games in the South and Central American Men’s Championship. Runner-up Argentina and third placed Chile could also tick the box by qualifying to the World Championship next year.

Six nations gathered in Buenos Aires for the tournament last week. The top trio remain high in the hierarchy as Brazil will play their 17h consecutive World Championship, Argentina 15th in the same row and Chile has reached every WC since 2011.

The medal battle started when Argentina and Chile tied, 27–27. Ervin Feuchtmann scored seven times as Chile tried to upset Brazil, but the opponent finished strong, 34–28 with Leonardo Dutra and Rudolph Hackbarth in attack position (eight goals each).

Argentina got Brazil out of balance, but ten suspension minutes against 18 didn´t dethrone the champion. Haniel Langaro and Vinicios Carvalho stayed away from the judge´s scrutiny, both scored six goals in the decisive victory, 28–26.
