European League: Sävehof continues to impress – on to the quarter-finals

To make it to the quarter-finals of the Men’s European League IK Sävehof had to defeat Hannover-Burgdorf by at least 4 goals. Sävehof won the game, 34–25, and are through to the quarter-finals after a huge performance.

Hannover-Burgdorf won the first match of two, 34–30, at home in Germany. It is not an easy task for Sävehof to turn it around, but not impossible either. The Swedish team needed to win the game by at least 4 goals to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

And it was Sävehof’s game from start to finish. The score at the break was 18–14 after an impressive half by Simon Möller. The young pivot, who has signed for Aalborg for next season, scored 6 goals in 6 attempts.

In the second half, Sävehof played even better whilst the German top team had huge problems. Early in the half the home side’s advantage was up to 7 goals, and even if the Germans came closer for a while the win for Sävehof was never in doubt. Simon Möller played his best game in goal when Sävehof needed him the most and Sävehof won the game 34–25.

Another impressive performance by this young team. They now have a quarter-final against SG Flensburg-Handewitt to look forward to.
