European League: Main round continues as race for quarter-finals heats up

The main round in the European League continues as teams battle for a spot in the quarter-finals. No team has a perfect record yet, and while SG Flensburg-Handewitt control their fate, Montpellier and Limoges must rely on outside results and their own victories.

At this stage, only the four group winners will advance directly to the quarter-finals. The teams finishing second and third in their respective groups will have to navigate the play-offs, making every remaining match a high-stakes battle for survival.

In Group II, all eyes will be on the top clash between Bidasoa Irun and Limoges Handball. Both teams currently sit on six points, and another win for Limoges—coupled with a Benfica loss—would seal the French club’s status as group winners.

Meanwhile, in Group IV, defending champions SG Flensburg-Handewitt aim to cement their dominance against FENIX Toulouse, following last week’s dramatic 34–34 draw. A victory would guarantee Flensburg a direct quarter-final spot.

For Ystads IF, tonight’s game is all about revenge. After suffering a 31–36 defeat against SL Benfica last week, the Swedish side is desperate to claim its first points in the main round.
