MT Melsungen and THW Kiel played a draw, 26–26 in the Men’s European League. GoHandball have named the three stars of the game.
Three stars: Eric Johansson
Statistically, the best player of the match, but not only that. A high-quality offensive performance from a player who means an enormous amount to Kiel. Scored a lot of goals, eight in total, and assisted in several more. Additionally, a player who attracts a lot of attention due to his efforts. He plays on a completely different level for his club compared to the Swedish national team.
Two stars: Ian Barrufeta
Melsungen’s best player in this match. Has a goal-scoring ability to rely on, and also an efficiency in his shots that is crucial for a Melsungen team that has to manage without the injured left wing David Mandic. Additionally, a really good defensive player who managed to slow down Emil Madsen’s performance and kept him to just four goals.
One star: Tomas Mrkva
It’s easy to forget that Kiel was in a tough spot at times in both the first and second halves. But Tomas Mrkva helped turn things around for Kiel and was the best goalkeeper of the match, even though both Andreas Wolff and Nebojsa Simic were on the court at times. He made nine saves and had a 34% save rate tonight for the Czech national team goalkeeper.
