The energy and saves of Møller turned the game around for Denmark: “Proud”

For once, Emil Nielsen didn’t have his best game and were subbed out in the second half. In came Kevin Møller, and with a couple of saves he turned the momentum over to Denmark, who won the game and will play for one more title.
“I am honoured to be a part of it,” Kevin Møller says to GoHandball.

After 39 minutes Emil Nielsen only had three saves, remarkably low for a goalkeeper of his standards. Nikolaj Jacobsen chose to sub in Kevin Møller at that time, who immediately saved a penalty from then red hot Orri Freyr Torkelsson, who up until then had scored on all of his six shots.

“I am happy, I feel like I am where I should be. But it was not just me, it was also the defence. Maybe I did one part, Kevin Møller says to GoHandball.

Iceland caused Denmark problems all game long, and the SG Flensburg-Handewitt keeper was impressed by the Icelandic team and performance.

“They defended really well and we didn’t get the easy opportunities. And then they made it difficult for us in defence with the best man-man attackers in the world. And against such players it will always be difficult.”

High praise for Saugstrup

Møller was unwilling to praise himself after that game, and much rather spoke about the team and one teammate in particular.

“Every player contributed. And an even bigger factor was Magnus Saugstrup and his defending today without normal defensive players beside him. It was some of the best defensive play I have ever seen.”

Now Denmark have the chance to win another final and become reigning Olympic, World, and European champions.

“Off course we want to win it together. It would be something special to have all the titles at the same time,” says Kevin Møller.
