After Lukas Jørgensen´s serious knee injury Denmark has been one player short in the squad. Andreas Magaard joined the host nation right before the start of the Main round, but was sent home again with injury issues.
TV 2 revealed the player news, which was later confirmed by EHF. But Magaard from HSV Hamburg who was set on resuming the pivot position without any previous caps on his CV, won´t appear after all.
DHF, the Danish federation provides an update concluding that knee problem will stop the 27-year-old from game action in Herning.
– We were fully aware that we were taking a chance by writing Andreas into the squad because there was a risk that he would not be able to play. But we could only get that clarification after the deadline to write him into the squad for tonight’s match, says sports director Morten Henriksen to the federation website.
In the extended squad the other remaining pivot, Frederik Ladefoged is also out of play. Denmark hoped to make a switch after the exit of Lukas Jørgensen, since Emil Bergholt´s family situation soon to be a father could cause him leaving the squad on rapid notice.
