The 2024 European Championship is getting closer and in a series of articles Ola Selby, reporter at GoHandball, picks his 5 best players at each position. It’s time for the playmakers.
Here are the players:
Felix Claar, Sweden

Claar has been the best playmaker in the world so far during the season. Almost unstoppable in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League. Clear can do it all, not only score and find his teammates in great areas. A complete handball player.
Gisli Kristjansson, Iceland

The Icelandic wonder has not played yet this season after his tough injury. Yet he is on this list and he is a given here considering the level he played at before his injury. If Kristjansson can come back during the Euros I am fully confident that he will chock everyone at just how fast he found his stride again.
Jim Gottfridsson, Sweden
Claar has been exceptional this season but Jim Gottfridsson will start for Sweden. And it’s hard to argue with that considering the level at which “Gotte” has played at for the past few years. Started the season a bit slow but has gotten better and better and his best games for Flensburg came in December. And championship time everyone knows how great Gottfridsson usually is.
Nedim Remili, France

Yes, I know that Remili is a right back, but in the French national team, he has, to huge success, played as a playmaker for some time. Instead of only playing around 20 minutes per game considering Dika Mem is the number one at right back, France has found a way to have both the stars on the floor at the same time. And Remili is no longer a score-first player but a complete playmaker.
Juri Knorr, Germany

The season has not been that great for Knorr or club side Rhein-Neckar Löwen. The playmaker has not been bad but he hasn’t played at the same level as the previous season. With that being said, Knorr is still a top player and a player who needs to perform at his highest level for Germany to do something great during this championship.
