Stefan Zabic, pivot in RK Celje and the Slovenian national team, were injured and require medical attention and time away from handball. As a result, Zabic won´t be taking part in Euro 2024.
The injury occurred when the line player attacked for Celje in the league game against Skofljica. Zabic tore his right achilles tendon and is ruled out from participation in Slovenia´s European Championship campaign, the Slovenian federation (RZS) confirm on their webpage.
Uros Zorman, the national coach acted swiftly and have choosen Jernej Drobez from RK Gorenje Velenje to replace Zabic.
Other pivots in Slovenia´s squad include the very experienced Blaz Blagotinsek (SG Flensburg-Handewitt) Kristjan Horzen (VfL Gummersbach, Germany) and Matic Suholeznik (RK Zagreb).
Slovenia start the preparation period when meeting Austria on Friday, December 29.
