Reports: Jim Gottfridsson’s contract terminated

An unexpected situation has emerged around Swedish international star Jim Gottfridsson. According to reports, the playmaker’s contract with Pick Szeged may have been terminated – but all parties remain silent.

The Swedish centre back Jim Gottfridsson has been absent from Pick Szeged’s last three matches, including the important Champions League win against Vive Kielce. His absence has raised questions – with no clear answers so far.

According to reports from Sportbladet, Gottfridsson’s contract with the Hungarian side may have been terminated, although this has not been officially confirmed. At the same time, Hungarian TV sources claim the absence is not injury-related – and that the 33-year-old might not play again this season.

The situation is surrounded by secrecy. Neither the player himself, club representatives, nor head coach Michael Apelgrenhave commented on the matter. The club’s only statement has been brief: Gottfridsson is not available – and therefore not part of the squad.

Gottfridsson is in his first season with Szeged after leaving SG Flensburg-Handewitt, where he spent twelve years. He signed a three-year contract with the Hungarian club ahead of the current season.

The next Swedish national team squad will be announced on April 22 by Apelgren. Whether Gottfridsson will be included remains to be seen – but for now, the situation surrounding one of Sweden’s biggest stars is anything but clear.
