PLAY: Kriens-Luzern make history with first Champions League win

Kriens-Luzern have their first Champions League victory. The Swiss side defeated Kolstad 34–32 on Wednesday to claim their first-ever two points in the EHF Champions League, after losing their opening two games in the competition. And they had to survive a late scare to do it.

Jerome Müller was the driving force behind the historic victory, scoring 10 goals from 11 attempts. Kriens-Luzern led for most of the game, but Kolstad fought their way back and levelled the score at 30–30 with five minutes remaining.

The hosts kept their composure, however. After a timeout in the final minute, Müller scored the decisive goal to put Kriens-Luzern ahead, before the Swiss side secured the win.

“It was our first win in the EHF Champions League. This evening will be remembered for a long time,” Kriens-Luzern line player Marin Šipić said.

The result puts Kriens-Luzern on two points after three rounds, while Kolstad remain on zero.
