PLAY: 22 goals from two Icelanders: Magdeburg stay perfect in Kielce

SC Magdeburg remain perfect in the Champions League – and they have their Icelandic stars to thank. Magdeburg defeated Industria Kielce 35–30 in a rematch of the 2023 Champions League final, with Ómar Ingi Magnússon and Gísli Kristjánsson combining for an extraordinary 22 goals.

Both players scored 11 times. Kielce managed to fight back from an early deficit and levelled the game at 17–17 late in the first half. Magdeburg, however, regained control after the break, with the Icelandic backcourt duo taking over offensively.

Magnússon finished 11/16, while Kristjánsson scored 11/15. At the other end, Dominik Kuzmanović produced several important saves as Magdeburg gradually pulled away again.

The win gives Magdeburg a maximum six points from their opening three games, putting them among the early frontrunners in the group phase.
